Most people call me James.
Like a lot of people, I've struggled with want I want to be when I grow up. I like to joke that I did life backwards after high school. I got a job, had kids, got married, then went to college. I've had a varied career path including construction, retail, photography, landscaping, truck driving, and finally technology.
In early 2017, a friend encouraged me to apply to a linux sys-admin job. I was hired and introduced to the world of AWS. I was able to acquire all three AWS Associate Certifications and feel like I have finally found a career.
While there have been stumbles and road blocks, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as an operations person specializing in AWS infrastructure. In the spring of 2021 I was hired at a consulting company and have been learning the ins and outs of a more serverless approach to the cloud.
When I'm not at my computer, I spend my free time with my wife and kids, riding my bicycle, and getting lost in the woods.
